Images as Data in Social Science Research
Overview
This workshop will provide a broad introduction to the principles and tools of image analysis from a social science perspective. Participants will engage with hands-on exercises using Python, leaning how to process and analyze visual data.
Hyein Ko is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research explores political communication, protest, and authoritarian politics, with a methodological focus on computational tools such as image analysis and large language models. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Iowa.
